Just a little over a month ago, the Miami Marlins looked like another rebuilding franchise destined to finish near the bottom of the National League. Since June 1, the Marlins have been the hottest team in Major League Baseball, posting an incredible 23-8 record (as of this writing), the best mark in the sport during that span. What looked like another lost season has transformed into one of baseball’s biggest success stories, suddenly thrusting Miami squarely into the National League playoff race.
Not Just Winning, But Dominating
The turnaround has been remarkable because it hasn’t simply been about winning games. It has been about dominating opponents in nearly every facet of baseball. Since June 1st, Miami has allowed the fewest runs in the National League and the second-fewest in all of Major League Baseball, a testament to outstanding starting pitching, timely bullpen performances, and dramatically improved team defense.
