Amazon Prime Customers Could Get Up to $200 Refund: Here’s Who Qualifies

Amazon Prime Refund Up to $200: Who Qualifies in 2026?

Amazon Prime customers may be eligible for refunds of up to $200 under a $2.5 billion settlement between Amazon and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over allegations involving the company’s Prime subscription enrollment and cancellation practices. The settlement requires Amazon to provide up to $1.5 billion in consumer refunds, along with a separate $1 billion civil penalty. The refunds are intended for eligible U.S. customers who signed up for Amazon Prime through certain enrollment processes or attempted to cancel their memberships online but were unsuccessful between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025. However, having an Amazon Prime membership does not automatically qualify someone for a refund. Customers must meet specific eligibility requirements, and the maximum $200 payment is not guaranteed for everyone.

Who Qualifies for the Amazon Prime Refund?

Customers must meet specific requirements to qualify for an automatic refund under the settlement.

  1. Be a U.S. Amazon Prime customer. The settlement covers eligible consumers in the United States.
  2. Have signed up or attempted to cancel between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025. Customers must have enrolled through one of the signup processes covered by the settlement or tried unsuccessfully to cancel their membership through Amazon’s online cancellation process.
  3. Have used no more than 20 Prime benefits during a qualifying 12-month period. Benefits can include services such as Prime Video and Prime Music, along with other qualifying Prime membership benefits.

The settlement expands eligibility to additional customers, including some who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits during a 12-month period and did not qualify for earlier rounds of refunds.

How Much Money Can Amazon Prime Customers Receive?

Eligible customers can receive a total refund of up to $200 under the settlement. The amount depends on the applicable payment phase and the settlement’s distribution requirements. Customers who previously received a refund of up to $51 may qualify for an additional payment of up to $149. However, the additional payment depends on the settlement’s payment requirements and is not guaranteed for every customer. The settlement also expands the pool of eligible customers and provides for automatic payments, meaning eligible consumers do not need to submit a new claim or additional paperwork to receive a payment.

How Will Amazon Refund Payments Be Sent?

Eligible customers do not need to submit a new claim or complete an application to receive an automatic payment under the expanded settlement. Amazon is responsible for administering the refunds and sending payments to customers identified as eligible. Payments may be sent through PayPal, Venmo or a mailed check. Customers who receive an electronic payment should accept it within 60 days of the issue date to avoid having the payment expire. Customers who believe they qualify but have not received a payment can review the official information at the Federal Trade Commission’s Amazon refund page.

When Will Amazon Prime Customers Receive Their Refunds?

Additional automatic payments under the expanded settlement began October 1, 2026. Eligible customers are expected to receive their refunds by April 2027. Additional payments of up to $149 for customers who previously received a refund may be issued by April 2027 if the required payment threshold has not been met. The total refund cannot exceed $200 per eligible customer under the settlement.

How to Avoid Amazon Refund Scams

As refund payments begin reaching customers, consumers should be cautious about fraudulent messages claiming to offer access to the settlement. Customers should never pay a fee to receive a settlement payment or provide sensitive personal information to someone promising to secure a refund. They should also avoid clicking unfamiliar links in unexpected emails or text messages. Consumers can check the official Federal Trade Commission website for settlement information and report suspected fraud through ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

What Amazon Prime Customers Should Know

The $2.5 billion settlement gives eligible Amazon Prime customers an opportunity to receive money back in connection with subscription enrollment and cancellation practices challenged by federal regulators. However, the refund is limited to customers who meet the settlement’s specific requirements. Consumers do not need to pay a fee or submit a new application to receive an automatic payment. Checking the official settlement information and monitoring payment notifications are the best ways to understand eligibility and avoid scams.
