Shane Gillis has officially made comedy history after shattering not one, but TWO Guinness World Records during his sold-out hometown performance at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The Pennsylvania native drew an astonishing crowd of 73,946 attendees while selling more than 76,000 tickets, setting the Guinness World Record for the largest audience ever to see a comedian and the most tickets sold for a solo comedy show.
The historic July 17th event transformed the home of the Philadelphia Eagles into the largest comedy venue ever assembled, proving that stand-up comedy has reached a level of popularity once reserved almost exclusively for major rock concerts and superstar musicians. The celebration included surprise appearances from comedy legend Dave Chappelle, rapper Meek Mill, former Eagles star Jason Kelce, and current Eagles players Cooper DeJean and Jordan Mailata, making it one of the biggest entertainment events Philadelphia has hosted in recent years.

Gillis’ rise to the top of the comedy world has been one of the industry’s most remarkable comeback stories. The next step for Gillis will be Hollywood and motion pictures. He is pretty much half-way there anyways. But at some point he is going to be teamed up with Idris Elba or Will Smith in a buddy-cop film, and then we will get to see how he draws at the box-office.
