Morgan Stanley Picks Dallas For New HQ
Morgan Stanley has selected Dallas for a new regional headquarters, planning a $684 million investment and more than 3,800 jobs as the financial services company expands its operations in Texas.
Major Dallas Investment
The company plans to establish its new regional headquarters in Uptown Dallas at 2401 McKinney Avenue. Morgan Stanley is expected to occupy approximately 700,000 square feet in a future office tower under a 16 year lease.
The company expects to move into the new headquarters around 2031. The larger development is expected to represent approximately $1.2 billion in total investment when the developer’s investment is included.
Thousands Of New Jobs
Morgan Stanley plans to create more than 3,800 jobs by the end of 2035 as part of the expansion. The new positions are expected to strengthen Dallas’ growing financial services sector. The company will initially operate from a temporary location at Fountain Place in downtown Dallas while its permanent Uptown headquarters is being developed.
Morgan Stanley plans to lease approximately 255,000 square feet at 1445 Ross Avenue for more than four years. Renovations are also planned at the building before the company transitions to its new Uptown location.
State And Local Incentives
Texas approved approximately $43.85 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund to support the project. The state also approved a $40,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus connected to the expansion.
Dallas officials approved an economic development package worth up to $18.5 million, along with additional incentives connected to Morgan Stanley’s temporary and permanent locations. The incentives are tied to the company’s planned investment and job creation commitments.
Dallas Expands Financial Sector
Morgan Stanley’s decision adds another major financial services company to the Dallas business community. The region has attracted significant investment from banks, investment firms and other financial companies in recent years.
The new headquarters is expected to further expand Dallas’ financial services presence while bringing thousands of additional jobs to the city. Morgan Stanley’s global headquarters will remain in New York. The Dallas facility will serve as a new U.S. regional hub rather than replacing the company’s global headquarters.
