Road Rage Arrest Oregan
A frightening road rage incident in Beaverton, Oregon, has drawn national attention after dashcam footage captured a driver aggressively pursuing another vehicle through city streets before being arrested outside a police station.
The incident unfolded on the morning of July 26 when a couple reported being chased by another driver following what authorities described as a road rage encounter. As the situation escalated, the victims called 911 and remained on the phone with dispatchers while attempting to get away safely.
Dangerous Chase Caught on Camera
Video released by investigators shows the suspect repeatedly driving aggressively behind the victims, crossing into oncoming traffic, blocking their path, and at one point reversing down a roadway in an apparent attempt to continue the pursuit.
The victims told dispatchers they feared for their lives during the chase. According to police, they also became concerned after seeing the driver repeatedly reach toward his jacket, making them believe he could be armed. Instead of stopping or driving home, the couple headed directly to the Beaverton Police Department while emergency dispatchers monitored the situation.
Arrest Made Outside Police Headquarters
The suspect followed the victims all the way to police headquarters, where officers were waiting and immediately took him into custody without further incident. Police later recovered an airsoft-style handgun from the suspect’s jacket pocket. Authorities identified the driver as 29-year-old Arman K. Hastings, who was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges including reckless driving and menacing.
Police Encourage Drivers to Avoid Confrontation
Officials said the victims made the right decision by avoiding a confrontation and driving to a location where law enforcement officers were present. Police say anyone involved in a road rage incident should remain calm, avoid engaging with the aggressive driver, call 911 as soon as it is safe to do so, and drive to a public place or police station rather than returning home.
