Have you ever heard of CBD? CBD, cannabidiol, is a derivative of the cannabis plant that can be extracted for use in CBD products. CBD has become more and more popular since the legality of hemp due to the Farm Bill of 2018. Stocks have skyrocketed, companies are flourishing and CBD products of all kinds are appearing throughout the market and e-commerce world.

Isn’t CBD Basically an Illegal Drug?

Contrary to popular belief, CBD is definitely legal. That is, as long the particular CBD result stays within the constraints that have been made by the government. Legal CBD is harvested mainly from the hemp plant. This is due to the fact that hemp has lower levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) within the plants than the normal marijuana plant. CBD is only legal if it stays within the constraints of less than 3% THC. In this manner, you would not feel the same effects as a “high” from marijuana. The reason marijuana gives off this effect is due to the THC within the plant. THC is a psychoactive drug that can alter your mindset.

Why Would Someone Take CBD Then?

It is understandable if you’re questioning the reasoning behind even using the cannabis derivative. This is due to the effects within CBD that are currently being studied. You can search all over the internet and find a ton of different stories of people being helped by CBD. Some say that it helps them with anxiety. Other’s feel that it allows them to truly relax. There are even people that say that it can help with extreme levels of autism and even cease seizures!

All of this information is still in speculation. The current status of the CBD market is in a situation of hiatus. The Food and Drug Administration is currently testing all the different ways that CBD can be applied to food and drinks. Until this research is done, CBD food and drink are currently unavailable in the United States.
