Miami Elementary School Teacher Accused of Showing Porn to Students and Inappropriately Touching Them

Allegations Surface At Miami Elementary School

A Miami elementary school teacher is facing serious criminal charges after police accused him of showing sexually explicit material to students and engaging in inappropriate physical contact with children. The allegations involve multiple students and prompted an investigation by Miami-Dade Schools Police. According to police, the teacher, Cesar Oriol Cardoso, 53, was accused of bringing female students into his classroom and showing them inappropriate photographs and videos. Investigators said the students were sometimes taken out of regular activities under the explanation that they needed to complete schoolwork.

Students Describe Inappropriate Material

Police said several students told investigators that Cardoso showed them sexually explicit material on his electronic devices. One student reportedly described being shown a photograph of Cardoso before allegedly being shown another image that depicted him naked. Investigators also alleged that students were shown pornographic content. Authorities said one particularly disturbing image allegedly shown to a student appeared to involve a young boy. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the material and how it came into Cardoso’s possession.

Police Allege Inappropriate Touching

The investigation also included allegations of inappropriate physical contact. According to police, multiple students described Cardoso touching them in ways they considered inappropriate, including allegations involving their buttocks and thighs. One student reportedly told investigators that Cardoso slapped her on the buttocks while she was in the classroom. Another student allegedly described Cardoso moving his hand from her shoulder toward her thigh. Police also received allegations involving unwanted attempts to kiss students and comments of a sexual nature.

School District Took Action

Miami-Dade County Public Schools said Cardoso was removed from the school after the district became aware of the allegations. The district later separated him from employment and said he is permanently barred from seeking employment with the school system in the future. The allegations raised significant concerns because of the students’ ages and Cardoso’s position of authority. Investigators said the case involved at least five alleged victims.

Teacher Faces Felony Charges

Cardoso was arrested Sept. 11 and faces three felony charges, including an offense involving a student by a person in a position of authority, showing obscene material to a minor and lewd or lascivious conduct involving a child under 16. Police said Cardoso was interviewed during the investigation but invoked his right to remain silent. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center following his arrest.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

The criminal case is continuing, and additional information could emerge as investigators and prosecutors review the allegations. The children involved have not been publicly identified because of their ages. Cardoso has been accused of serious crimes but has not been convicted. The charges remain allegations, and he is legally presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
