Arrest Made in Murder of 13-Year-Old Orlando Girl
Orlando, FL – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of 13-year-old Rose Thalie Dieujuste, who was tragically killed on July 4th. Jerry Dorisme, 28, has been charged with first-degree felony murder.
Investigators found Dieujuste unresponsive inside an apartment off South Rio Grande Avenue in Orlando. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), Dieujuste exhibited “obvious signs of trauma” and was immediately transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The crime scene remained highly active on Wednesday, with law enforcement officers canvassing the area, knocking on doors, and engaging with neighbors to gather more information.
The breakthrough in the case came after the OCSO released surveillance footage showing a man in a red shirt walking through a parking lot, approaching a gate, and subsequently leaving the area. Deputies identified the man as Dorisme and believe he has critical information about what happened to the Memorial Middle School student.
“OCSO homicide detectives have been working around the clock to solve this crime. This arrest was made through their hard work, the work of our CSIs – and with help from community members who called in tips after seeing the video we released yesterday,” the sheriff’s office posted on social media platform X.
Community involvement proved crucial in advancing the investigation, as tips from the public following the release of the surveillance video helped lead to Dorisme’s arrest.
The tragic death of Dieujuste has left the local community in shock and mourning. The Memorial Middle School student was remembered fondly by her peers and teachers as a bright and promising young girl whose life was cut short too soon.
Sheriff John Mina expressed his condolences to Dieujuste’s family and reiterated the commitment of the sheriff’s office to bring justice for Rose. “Our thoughts are with Rose’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We are dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for this heinous crime are held accountable,” said Sheriff Mina.
Dorisme is currently being held in custody without bond, and it remains unclear if he has retained legal representation. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
As the community processes this tragic event, local leaders have called for unity and vigilance. They encourage anyone with further information related to the case to come forward and assist law enforcement in their efforts to ensure justice for Rose Thalie Dieujuste.
