Did You Know That Germany Already Has Sex Robots?

The AI (Artificial Intelligence) is here. You know it mainly as a chatbot on your cellphone. You may use AI tools such as ChatGTP, Grok, Claude, and a slew of others. Eventually, the AI is going to develop further and further. AI personalities and influencers are popping up left and right. One area that is getting a lot of attention and anticipation is the rise of the SEX ROBOTS!!!! Or shall I say the kneel down of the SEX ROBOTS!!!! (hehe)

For many who are financially well off, you will be able to literally buy a companion. Whether you finance or pay in full, you will have access to robot love. But there is one place in Germany that is well ahead of the game. They allow you to come to their establishment and live out your kinks at their house.

Germany has the world’s first “cyber brothel” called Cybrothel. Cybrothel is a very modern, tech-infused adult entertainment venue blending sex tech, VR (virtual reality) / AI , and traditional sex-doll brothel concepts.

What is Cybrothel?

Cybrothel is an adult establishment in Berlin that opened in 2023 and calls itself the world’s first immersive cyber or “AI” brothel. Instead of employing live sex workers, it offers high-end silicone sex dolls combined with virtual reality, AI features, and voice interaction to create an experience that’s part physical and part digital.

Guests book private suites where a life-size silicone doll of their choice awaits. Advanced options can include VR headsets, themed environments, and AI/voice interaction supplied by off-site voice actors or computer systems. The brothel emphasizes anonymity, hygiene, and discretion. The rooms are cleaned and disinfected, and anonymity is maintained. Users can select doll features (body type, outfit, personality) and package options ranging from simpler experiences to more immersive mixed-reality sessions.

If you are asking why Cybrothel has a great chance of being successful, ask the owner.

“Many people feel more comfortable sharing private matters with a machine because it doesn’t judge,” says Philipp Fussenegger, founder and owner of Cybrothel. Previously, there was significant interest in a doll with a voice actress, where users could only hear the voice and interact with the doll. Now, there is an even greater demand for interacting with artificial intelligence.”

The Technology at Play

The brothel blends technologies that are typically used in adult entertainment with physical props to create a multi-sensory encounter, which includes:

  • VR and mixed reality: Wearing VR gear can make the scene feel more life-like and reactive.

  • Interactive dolls: Some dolls are paired with live voice actors who communicate with clients during the session.

  • AI chat features: The venue also experiments with AI that lets clients interact with dolls even before a visit.

Controversy and Debate

The concept has spurred significant discussion around ethics, social norms, and intimacy in the digital age. Supporters argue it can provide a safe, judgment-free space for sexual exploration and help reduce stigma around desires many find hard to discuss. Critics warn that such venues may blur the lines between consent, objectification, and human connection, and some worry that it could affect how people relate to real partners. There are also broader debates about how AI and sexual technology intersect with societal norms, regulation, and relationships.

Brothel Culture in Germany

It’s worth noting that Germany’s overall approach to sex work is quite liberal and regulated. The country legalized prostitution in 2002, and sex work is officially recognized as a profession, with licensing and protection laws in place. Cybrothel exists alongside this legal industry, but it’s a distinct, tech-driven concept rather than a traditional brothel.

What are the Global Attitudes Toward CyberBrothels?

These countries either explicitly allow sex work or don’t classify AI/doll services as prostitution: Germany, Netherlands, Japan and Spain.

These countries haven’t written laws for this yet: The United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

These countries prohibit sexual commerce broadly: All of the Middle East, China, and India.

How Do CyberBrothels Slip Through the Cracks?

The global legal system is built around human consent and exploitation. Cyberbrothels dodge that framework because there is no human sex worker, there is no trafficking risk, there is no coercion or consent issues. But things can change as attitudes toward cyberbrothels evolve. Future regulation is likely to focus on the use of AI voices or likenesses. Whether dolls resemble real people. The psychological harm arguments. And even zoning restrictions are applied the same way strip clubs are regulated. Some countries may eventually, license them, tax them, restrict their advertising, and ban realism above certain thresholds.

What are the Public Opinions and Attitudes Towards Places Like This?

Public opinion and attitudes toward cyberbrothels, sex robots, and AI-enabled sexual technology are very mixed and often polarized. They differ significantly by culture, gender, age, values, and what exactly people picture when they think of “sex tech.” The concept has spurred significant discussion around ethics, social norms, and intimacy in the digital age:

Supporters argue it can provide a safe, judgment-free space for sexual exploration and help reduce stigma around desires many find hard to discuss. Critics warn that such venues may blur lines around consent, objectification, and human connection, and some worry it could affect how people relate to real partners. There are also broader debates about how AI and sexual technology intersect with societal norms, regulation, and relationships.

Many people find the idea of sex robots or sex with machines unappealing or even “a bad idea”.  In one survey, about 76% said having sex with a doll or robot was a bad idea, and only about 11 % thought it was a good idea. There’s stigma around using sophisticated sexual AI, partly because it challenges conventional ideas of intimacy, relationships, and human contact. Men generally express more openness toward sex robots and similar technology than women do.

Some research shows women tend to feel more threatened by the concept. Especially if robots are framed as catering mainly to men, possibly due to concerns about objectification and unrealistic sexual norms. People’s reactions often depend heavily on how the technology is described — e.g., pairing sex robots with companionship vs. purely mechanical instruments for gratification can influence acceptance.

Media and pop culture narratives also shape public opinion; sensationalized portrayals can reinforce stigma and fear, whereas neutral or positive coverage can normalize the idea.

No matter what side of the debate you fall on, one things is for certain. There will be a large segment of the population that will enjoy the carnal pleasure of sex with a robot / doll. And at the end of the day, is that really hurting anybody?
