The 2024 summer meet at Saratoga Race Course promises an unforgettable experience, running from July 11 through September 2. This eight-week event is packed with thrilling races, special events, and activities that will keep visitors entertained throughout the season. Whether you’re a seasoned racing fan or new to the sport, there’s something for everyone at Saratoga.
Don’t miss out on the excitement of the opening weekend! The meet kicks off on Thursday, July 11, with the Listed $175,000 Schuylerville Stakes, a six-furlong race for juvenile fillies. This opening day event sets the stage for a summer full of top-tier racing.
The action continues on Friday, July 12, with two stakes races for sophomore fillies: the Listed $150,000 Coronation Cup at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf and the restricted $135,000 Wilton at one mile on dirt. These races are sure to provide plenty of thrills for fans.
Saturday, July 13, features the meet’s first Grade 1 contest, the $500,000 Diana Stakes. This nine-furlong turf race for older fillies and mares is a highlight of the weekend. The day also includes two Grade 3 races: the $175,000 Sanford for juveniles sprinting six furlongs and the Kelso at one mile on turf for older horses.
The excitement of the opening weekend concludes on Sunday, July 14, with the Grade 3, $175,000 Quick Call Stakes presented by the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. This turf sprint for sophomores promises to be a thrilling finale to the first weekend of the meet.
Gates open at 11am daily, giving fans plenty of time to explore the grounds and enjoy all that Saratoga has to offer. Be sure to visit the Taste NY Pavilion, located inside Gate A at the Top of the Stretch. Here, you can sample and purchase New York-made food and beverages, including craft beers, wines, spirits, cheese, and chocolate. The pavilion showcases products from across the state, from Montauk to the Finger Lakes and the Hudson Valley to the Adirondacks. Please note that you must be 21 and over to sample and purchase alcoholic beverages.
