Massive Yacht Fire Behind Miami Strip Club Leaves Vessel Sunk in Miami River
MIAMI – A 95-foot yacht burst into flames early Sunday morning while docked behind the Booby Trap on the River strip club, located at 3615 NW S River Dr. The vessel, which was being rented by acclaimed music producer and recording artist Metro Boomin, eventually sank into the Miami River after burning for hours.
Evacuation and Response
The incident began around 3 a.m. when the yacht arrived at the dock. According to Michael Marhefka, Director of Security at the Booby Trap on the River, approximately 10 guests, including Metro Boomin, and five crew members were aboard at the time.
“About 30 minutes after the boat docked, we noticed fire alarms going off and saw smoke inside the vessel. We made the decision to evacuate everyone immediately,” Marhefka said.
Employees of the club acted quickly, assisting in the evacuation. No injuries were reported.
Firefighting Efforts
Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after the evacuation and worked tirelessly to contain the blaze. They used water and foam to douse the flames and deployed a ladder truck for an aerial attack. Despite their efforts, the yacht sank into the river just before 7 a.m.
Authorities have secured the wreckage, which remains tied to the dock as crews develop a plan to remove it.
Ongoing Investigation
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officials have not yet disclosed details about potential damage to the dock or surrounding area.
No Injuries, But Questions Remain
While no injuries were reported, the incident has raised questions about safety protocols on large vessels and at docking facilities. The dramatic fire drew attention to the popular Miami hotspot, known for attracting high-profile clientele.
