According to police, the teenager was walking home when Polanco allegedly approached her, grabbed her from behind and placed her in a headlock. A witness intervened, allowing the girl to break free and seek help. Police said Polanco fled westbound from the gas station following the incident. While officers were responding, they received reports of another disturbance involving a man matching the suspect’s description. Officers located and detained Polanco nearby. The teenager and a witness subsequently identified him as the person involved in the alleged incident, police said.
Arrest and Charges
Polanco was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He faces charges related to battery causing bodily harm and kidnapping involving bodily harm or terrorizing a victim. A judge reportedly denied Polanco bond following his court appearance on Tuesday, October 20. The incident highlights the importance of bystander intervention when someone may be in danger. The witness who intervened helped the teenager escape from the alleged attack. The victim’s identity has not been publicly released because she is a minor. The charges against Polanco are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
