Miami-Dade Deputy Arrested for Sex with Teen, Threats to Kill Her if She Left, FBI Affidavit Reveals
A decorated 29-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has been arrested on federal charges of sexually exploiting a 17-year-old girl, recording the encounters, and later threatening to murder the teen when she tried to leave the relationship, according to explosive court documents unsealed this week.
Deputy Carle Miranda Blum Accused of Predatory Relationship with Teen
Deputy Carle Miranda Blum, 51, was taken into custody Wednesday following an FBI investigation that uncovered graphic evidence of a long-running sexual relationship with a minor. Blum now faces federal charges of producing and receiving sexually explicit material involving a minor, charges that carry mandatory minimum sentences of 15 and 5 years in prison, respectively. Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz confirmed Thursday that Blum had been with the department for nearly three decades. She described the allegations as a “betrayal of the badge” and promised full cooperation with federal authorities.
“These allegations are not only criminal, they are a betrayal of the badge, the public trust, and the oath we swear to uphold,” Cordero-Stutz said in a written statement.
“The actions alleged stand in direct opposition to everything we represent as law enforcement officers and as human beings.”
FBI Affidavit: Tipster Triggered Probe, Teen Later Hospitalized
The investigation began July 14 when the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a person identified in court documents as “Witness 1.” The witness warned authorities about Blum’s inappropriate relationship with a teen girl, which allegedly began when the victim was just 17. Only three days later, the teen was involuntarily hospitalized under the Coleman-Baker Act in Atlanta, Georgia, after suffering what authorities described as a mental health crisis. Witness 1 told investigators that the girl’s condition had worsened steadily during her relationship with Blum. The day after her 18th birthday, the teen reportedly tried to fly to Miami to reunite with Blum, but was intercepted and Baker Acted. Surveillance footage showed Blum retrieving the girl’s checked luggage at Miami International Airport.
Digital Trail: Videos, Threats, and a Countdown to 18
Federal agents, with permission from Witness 1, accessed the teen’s devices and uncovered a digital trove of evidence including sexually explicit videos, voice notes, and Instagram messages exchanged while the victim was still a minor. Some of the evidence dates back to October 26, 2024, when the teen was 17.
The FBI alleges that Blum traveled to Georgia multiple times to have sex with the victim and filmed the encounters. In their communications, Blum repeatedly referenced the girl’s upcoming 18th birthday, promising to marry her once she became legal. One message allegedly included a countdown to the day. Blum also reportedly bought the teen a black Honda Accord, confirmed by vehicle registration records. But the relationship soured when the teen attempted to pull away and that’s when Blum’s messages turned threatening.
“Leave me and see what happens,” Blum allegedly wrote.

Arrest and Charges
Blum was arrested while en route to Atlanta to visit the victim following her hospital release. She remains jailed in Georgia as federal proceedings unfold.
