Husband of Murdered Woman Seen Dragging Large Tarp on Doorbell Camera

Husband of Missing Lancaster Woman Arrested After Chilling Discovery

“Doorbell footage doesn’t lie, the last image of Sheylla Cabrera alive may have been her husband carrying her away, wrapped up like garbage.”

The Disappearance

The case began on August 12, when the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) received a missing persons report for 33-year-old Sheylla Cabrera. She was last seen at her apartment on the 500 block of Lancaster Boulevard in Lancaster, California. Friends and neighbors told deputies her sudden disappearance was deeply out of character.

Surveillance Video Shifts the Case

Just one day later, the missing persons case escalated into a homicide investigation. Detectives obtained footage from a neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera, which showed Cabrera’s husband, Jossimar Cabrera, dragging a large object wrapped in fabric away from their apartment. Investigators believe that object was Cabrera’s body. The footage, obtained by KTLA, depicts the man struggling to move what appears to be a sack or sheet concealing a human form.

Body Found Dumped

Authorities soon discovered Cabrera’s remains, wrapped in similar material, dumped in a location outside of the apartment complex. The timeline between her reported disappearance, the video evidence, and the body’s recovery left little doubt for detectives: this was no longer a missing persons case, but a homicide.

A Community in Shock

Residents of the Lancaster complex expressed disbelief and horror. One neighbor told local reporters, “We never thought something like this would happen right next door. To see it caught on camera makes it even more chilling.”

Domestic Violence in Focus

The case underscores the persistent crisis of domestic violence in California and across the country. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, nearly one in three women in the U.S. experiences physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Cases like Cabrera’s highlight the deadly escalation that can occur when abuse goes undetected or unreported.

Ongoing Investigation

The LASD has not yet released the name of Cabrera’s husband pending formal charges but confirmed that he is the primary suspect. Detectives are reviewing forensic evidence from both the apartment and the location where her body was recovered. The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with information about Cabrera’s final hours to come forward.
