Police Praise Armed Civilian
Investigators say the armed civilian drew his legally carried handgun and fired at the suspect after the shooting began. While officials do not believe the civilian struck the gunman, they say his actions forced the shooter to divert his attention, interrupting the attack and giving others valuable time to escape.
Police credited both the civilian and an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper who also responded with helping reduce the number of potential victims. Officials described the civilian’s actions as courageous and said his quick response likely saved lives.
