Elderly Man Kills Wife and Son Before Taking Own Life in Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A tragic murder-suicide unfolded in Pompano Beach on Wednesday evening when an 80-year-old man fatally shot his wife and son before turning the gun on himself, according to authorities.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched to the residence to conduct a welfare check after concerns were raised about the occupants. The home, located approximately 8.4 miles north of Fort Lauderdale, remained unresponsive despite multiple attempts by law enforcement to make contact.

After repeated efforts to reach the residents, deputies called in a Pompano Beach Fire Rescue crew to forcibly enter the home. Inside, they discovered the lifeless bodies of three individuals. The victims, including the suspect’s wife and son, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide and crime scene units have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Officials have not yet disclosed the names or ages of the wife and son.

Authorities have not released details regarding a possible motive, and it remains unclear what may have led to the deadly act. Investigators continue to examine evidence as they work to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
