R&B Singer Jacquees Arrested in Broward County on DUI, Battery and Resisting Charges
Hollywood police say the R&B singer was found passed out inside a vehicle Sunday morning before an encounter with first responders led to three criminal charges and a $3,500 bond.
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — R&B singer Jacquees was arrested in Broward County over the weekend after Hollywood police said officers responding to a report of a man passed out inside a vehicle encountered the artist, who later became combative with first responders. The 32-year-old singer was booked on charges of driving under the influence, battery on a law enforcement officer, firefighter or emergency medical technician, and resisting or obstructing an officer without violence.
Jacquees, whose legal name is Rodriquez Jacquees Broadnax, was taken into custody Sunday, Sept. 27, near North 62nd Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. Hollywood police said officers were dispatched shortly before 8 a.m. after receiving a report that someone was passed out inside a vehicle. According to an arrest report obtained by local media, officers found Broadnax asleep inside a Jeep Gladiator and first responders attempted to wake him.
Authorities allege the situation escalated while first responders attempted to take Broadnax to a hospital. Police said he became combative during the encounter, which ultimately resulted in his arrest. Public booking records list three charges: DUI, resisting an officer without violence and battery on an officer, firefighter or EMT. The charges are allegations, and Broadnax is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Jacquees Appeared in Broward Bond Court
Initial booking information showed Broadnax being held with a $0 bond amount pending a hearing, but that information changed Monday when he appeared in Broward County bond court. A judge set his total bond at $3,500, according to local reporting.
The bond update is significant because some early reports described Jacquees as being held without bond based on the initial jail record. His subsequent court hearing established a $3,500 total bond, making that the more current figure as of Monday, Sept. 28.
This Is Not Jacquees’ First South Florida Arrest
The Broward County case is not the singer’s first encounter with law enforcement in South Florida. Jacquees was arrested in Miami Beach in 2018 following a traffic stop during which authorities said he became confrontational with an officer. He was also arrested later that year in Atlanta after police accused him of driving 116 mph.
In 2023, Jacquees was arrested again in Georgia following an alleged altercation near the Mall of Georgia. Authorities charged him with simple battery and obstruction after a woman accused him of choking her and biting her hand. Police alleged that he attempted to flee before an officer used a stun gun, and he was subsequently released on bond. Those allegations arose from a separate case and are unrelated to the current Broward County arrest.
Jacquees Built a Major Career in Contemporary R&B
Jacquees has been a prominent figure in contemporary R&B for more than a decade and is widely known for songs including “B.E.D.” and “You.” His latest project, “Mood 2,” was released in July 2026 and featured collaborations with Kodak Black, Juvenile, Blxst, Ty Dolla $ign, K Camp, Tink, DC Young Fly and Rob49.
The circumstances surrounding Sunday’s encounter remain subject to the court process, and the filing of criminal charges does not establish guilt. The case will now move through the Broward County court system as prosecutors determine how to proceed with the charges arising from the Hollywood arrest.
