10 Injured After Turbulence
A Cathay Pacific passenger flight traveling from Brisbane, Australia, to Hong Kong turned chaotic after severe turbulence injured 10 people onboard, including both passengers and crew members.
The incident occurred aboard Cathay Pacific Flight CX156, an Airbus A350-900, during the final portion of the international flight. According to airline officials, the turbulence struck suddenly roughly two hours before landing while breakfast service was underway in the economy cabin.
Passengers described scenes of panic inside the aircraft as the plane abruptly jolted, throwing unsecured items and people into the air. Several passengers reportedly hit the ceiling when the turbulence hit unexpectedly.
Flight Crew Among Those Injured
Cathay Pacific confirmed that six crew members and four passengers suffered injuries during the incident. Eight people were later transported to hospitals after the aircraft landed safely at Hong Kong International Airport.
Witnesses onboard said flight attendants appeared particularly vulnerable because many were standing in the aisles serving meals and drinks when the turbulence occurred. Photos shared online after landing showed overturned service carts, food scattered throughout the cabin, and debris spread across multiple rows.
Medical professionals onboard reportedly assisted injured passengers before emergency crews met the aircraft at the gate.

Passengers said there was little warning before the aircraft encountered the violent air disturbance. Reports indicate many travelers were not wearing seatbelts at the time because meal service was actively taking place.
