FBI Releases New Photos in Offset Shooting as Manhunt Expands Across South Florida
Federal investigators have escalated their search for the suspects behind the high profile shooting of rapper Offset, releasing new surveillance images that shed light on the violent April 6 attack outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The newly released photos, distributed by the FBI this week, show both the vehicles and individuals believed to be involved in the incident, marking the most detailed public update since the shooting left the artist hospitalized and triggered a multi-agency investigation across South Florida.
A Coordinated Attack Outside a Major Venue
According to federal authorities, the incident began as a confrontation involving a large group outside the casino complex. Investigators say the situation quickly escalated into violence, with multiple individuals assaulting Offset before one suspect produced a handgun and fired a single shot, striking the rapper.
In the chaos that followed, the group allegedly attempted to rob him, specifically targeting his watch, but failed to remove it before fleeing the scene.
The suspects escaped in two vehicles: a matte gray Chevrolet Tahoe and a black Chevrolet Suburban. Authorities believe the vehicles split directions immediately after the shooting, with the Tahoe heading south toward Miami and the Suburban traveling north toward Hollywood.
FBI Broadens Search With New Evidence
The surveillance images released this week are a critical step in the investigation, offering the public its clearest look yet at both the suspects and their getaway vehicles. The FBI’s South Florida Violent Crime and Fugitive Task Force is now actively seeking assistance from the public to identify those involved.
Law enforcement sources indicate that while two individuals were initially detained at the scene, the investigation has since expanded significantly, with multiple additional suspects still unaccounted for.
One of those detained, rapper Lil Tjay, was arrested in connection with the altercation that preceded the shooting. He was charged with disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license. Authorities have not charged him in connection with the shooting itself.
Offset Recovering After Hospitalization
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was transported to a nearby hospital following the incident and has since been released. In a public statement, he confirmed he is recovering and focused on returning to his family and music.
“Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love. I’m good… but I’m planning to be better. I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music.”
The shooting adds to a troubling history of violence surrounding the artist’s circle. In 2022, his cousin and fellow Migos member Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston, a case that sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community.
A High-Profile Case With Public Safety Implications
The location of the shooting, one of South Florida’s busiest entertainment destinations, has amplified concerns about security and public safety. The Seminole Hard Rock complex regularly draws large crowds, tourists, and high-profile figures, making the brazen nature of the attack particularly alarming.
Investigators have not yet released a motive, and it remains unclear whether the incident was targeted or opportunistic. However, the level of coordination, multiple suspects, a group assault, and planned escape routes, suggests a degree of premeditation that authorities are taking seriously.
The Investigation Continues
The FBI, alongside the Seminole Police Department, is urging anyone with information to come forward as the manhunt continues. Officials have emphasized that even small details could prove critical in identifying the suspects and reconstructing the events leading up to the shooting. As new evidence emerges, the case is quickly becoming one of the most closely watched criminal investigations in South Florida this year combining celebrity, violence, and unanswered questions that extend beyond a single night outside a casino.
