Josh Hokit Drops UFC Diss Track Taking Shots at Jon Jones, Ciryl Gane, Michelle Obama and Way More!
The undefeated heavyweight contender trades his fighting gloves for a microphone, unleashing a hilarious rap video targeting UFC superstars, former opponents, and even a former First Lady. Apparently, nobody is safe from J-Word.
Josh Hokit apparently decided that ordinary UFC trash talk wasn’t enough. Instead of simply insulting his next opponent at a press conference, the undefeated heavyweight contender grabbed a microphone, adopted the rap name J-Word, and released a nearly 2½-minute diss track that takes aim at some of the biggest names in mixed martial arts. In just 3 days it has 450,000 views, while the Delinquent MMA channel that also posted it has 406,000 in three days. That’s almost ONE MILLION hits in not even a week. So guess what… it’s working!
The song, titled “MSG FREESTYLE” has Hokit firing shots at Ciryl Gane, Jon Jones, Tom Aspinall, Alex Pereira, Ilia Topuria, Derrick Lewis, UFC personality Nina Drama, and even former First Lady Michelle Obama. And if you’re wondering whether Hokit is holding back, the answer is absolutely not. The release comes as Hokit prepares for the biggest fight of his professional career, a heavyweight championship showdown against Ciryl Gane at UFC 334 on November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Rather than sticking to the usual pre fight interviews and promotional appearances, Hokit decided to turn his growing list of enemies into a rap video. The result is a combination of insults, controversial references, AI generated imagery, and enough MMA name dropping to fill an entire UFC fight card.
Who Does Josh Hokit Diss in “MSG FREESTYLE”?
1. Ciryl Gane: The Main Target
Gane gets plenty of attention throughout the track, which isn’t surprising considering he’s the man standing between Hokit and the heavyweight championship. Hokit repeatedly attacks the French heavyweight over controversial incidents involving illegal strikes and eye pokes.
The most notable references involve Gane’s fight against Tom Aspinall, which ended in a no contest after an accidental double eye poke left Aspinall unable to continue. Hokit also brings up Gane’s controversial striking against Alex Pereira, including a shot to the back of the head.
Hokit has even taken his mockery outside the recording studio, previously posting a video of himself being pepper sprayed as a ridiculous form of preparation for Gane’s alleged eye poking tendencies. He also incorporates AI-generated footage of Gane being buried in a grave. Subtlety apparently wasn’t part of the production budget.
2. Jon Jones: The Sean “Diddy” Combs Comparison
Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Jon Jones also finds himself in the crosshairs. Hokit makes a provocative comparison between Jones and Sean “Diddy” Combs, using the disgraced music mogul’s legal controversies as ammunition. The music video even features an AI generated scene depicting Jones covered in baby oil, making the intended reference pretty difficult to miss.
Why is Hokit going after Jones? There’s also a personal MMA connection. Jones trains Gable Steveson at Jackson Wink, and Steveson has been a rival of Hokit. Jones may no longer be competing inside the Octagon, but apparently retirement doesn’t qualify anyone for immunity from J-Word.
3. Tom Aspinall: Collateral Damage in the Gane Feud
Aspinall gets dragged into the song largely because of his controversial encounter with Gane. Hokit references the eye poke incident that ended Aspinall’s fight and uses AI-generated imagery depicting the British heavyweight in a hospital bed. Although Aspinall isn’t the primary target, Hokit clearly believes the incident provides another opportunity to embarrass Gane.
4. Alex Pereira: “Chama” Gets a New Meaning
Former UFC champion Alex Pereira also receives some lyrical attention. Hokit plays off Pereira’s famous “Chama” catchphrase, turning it into a crude insult involving Pereira’s mother. The two already had some history before the song was released. Hokit previously took shots at Pereira during the UFC Freedom 250 promotional activities, making this another chapter in their increasingly entertaining rivalry.
5. Ilia Topuria: Another Fighter on the Hit List
Former UFC champion Ilia Topuria also makes an appearance in Hokit’s musical attack. The two previously had a confrontation during a UFC Freedom 250 press conference in Newark, where Hokit appeared more interested in exchanging insults with Topuria than discussing his scheduled opponent. That disagreement apparently wasn’t forgotten. Topuria now finds himself included among the growing collection of UFC personalities Hokit wants to antagonize.
6. Derrick Lewis: The Last Man to Feel Hokit’s Elbows
Hokit also takes a victory lap over his most recent opponent, Derrick Lewis. Lewis, one of the most recognizable knockout artists in UFC history, lost to Hokit by second round TKO at UFC Freedom 250. Hokit uses the song to remind Lewis how their encounter ended, boasting about the elbows that helped secure the victory. It’s essentially a musical reminder that their last meeting didn’t go particularly well for The Black Beast.
7. Nina Drama: The UFC Personality Gets an Unwanted Shout-Out
UFC interviewer and social media personality Nina Marie Daniele, better known as Nina Drama, also gets mentioned. Hokit delivers an extremely explicit sexual reference involving Daniele as part of his opening lyrical barrage. Interestingly, Nina didn’t appear particularly offended by the attention. She responded on social media with a joking reaction, suggesting she was enjoying the track until Hokit reached her verse.
Her response included a playful rejection of the reference and a warning that she wasn’t interested in Pereira’s signature Chama treatment. At least somebody seems to be taking the whole thing in stride.
8. Michelle Obama: The Former First Lady Gets Pulled Into the Octagon
Perhaps the most unexpected name on the list is former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Hokit opens the track with an extremely crude sexual reference about Obama, continuing a controversy that began following his post fight interview after defeating Derrick Lewis. During that interview, Hokit made disparaging comments about the former First Lady that drew considerable criticism, including from UFC CEO Dana White.
Former NFL MVP Cam Newton also criticized Hokit over the remarks, while Hokit subsequently defended his comments during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show. Now he’s bringing the controversy into his music. It’s difficult to explain why a heavyweight contender preparing for a championship fight feels the need to involve a former First Lady in his promotional campaign, but apparently J-Word has a rather expansive definition of his target audience.
From NFL Practice Squad to UFC Heavyweight Championship Contender
Hokit isn’t just some random guy who wandered into a recording studio looking for attention. The 28 year old former football player has rapidly climbed the UFC heavyweight rankings and enters his championship opportunity with an undefeated professional record. After earning his UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2025, Hokit put together victories over Max Gimenis and Denzel Freeman before making a major statement against former title challenger Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327.
He followed that performance with a second-round TKO victory over Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250. Now he finds himself preparing for a showdown with Ciryl Gane, with the undisputed heavyweight championship on the line. His personality has been just as controversial as his fighting career has been successful. From bizarre promotional stunts to confrontations with fellow fighters, Hokit has embraced the role of UFC’s newest professional troublemaker. The diss track is simply the latest example.
Will J-Word’s Rap Career Last Longer Than Two Minutes and 27 Seconds?
Whether Hokit has any legitimate musical talent is probably a matter of personal taste. But as a promotional tool, “MSG FREESTYLE” has accomplished exactly what it was designed to do, and that is to get people talking. He’s managed to turn a championship buildup into a viral conversation involving multiple UFC superstars, a social media personality, a former First Lady, and a controversial music mogul.
Former UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson even reacted positively to the track on social media, although he still predicted Gane would win their upcoming fight in three rounds. That’s the interesting part of this entire spectacle. Hokit has successfully gotten people talking about him, but now comes the difficult part: actually winning the fight. On November 14, Hokit will have the opportunity to prove that his undefeated record is more than promotional material when he steps into Madison Square Garden against one of the most technically gifted heavyweights in the sport. Until then, J-Word has apparently declared war on half the UFC roster.
