Pro Cornhole ‘Nugget’ Arrested and Charged with Murder

Now, before we even dive into this story, we here at SFL.media want to explain what a “nugget” is and why the term is used. Google AI describes a “nugget” as a person born without, or who has lost, all four limbs. Some people may find the term offensive. Highly inappropriate, even. It isn’t intended to be. It actually should be more of a term of endearment. Our society is way too soft. And the sensitivity to words and terms is proof of this. But that is the least important part of this story. This story is about an alleged murderer. An alleged murderer who is not only a professional cornhole player, but a Tesla owner, a gun owner, an outdoorsman, an inspirational speaker….and a NUGGET!!!!

The story is actually fascinating. It is a huge story on the internet. There are a lot of questions that people are asking, and wondering how this could have even been pulled off. Let’s do a deep dive into Dayton Webber, the “nugget” cornhole pro, who is now facing murder charges (amongst other charges as well).

Webber, 27, is a professional cornhole player and one of the first quadruple amputees to compete in the American Cornhole League. Police say he was driving a car with several people inside when he got into an argument with a passenger, identified as Bradrick Wells. During that argument, authorities allege Webber shot Wells multiple times in the head.

Witnesses in the back seat reportedly refused to help him remove the body (and he asked them to) and instead flagged down police. Webber allegedly drove away with the victim still in the car, and the body was later found in a yard nearby.

He was later located at a hospital in Virginia and arrested. The shooting took place in Maryland. The case is getting a lot of attention, not just because of the crime, but because Webber was previously known as an inspirational athlete who overcame losing all four limbs as a baby.

Who is Dayton Webber?

Dayton Webber (27) is from La Plata, Maryland, and was widely known for being an inspirational athlete. He became a quadruple amputee at about 10 months old after a severe bacterial infection led to life-saving amputations of both arms and legs. Despite that, he learned to write, drive, and compete in sports. He has competed in the American Cornhole League and has placed high in tournaments.

He built a reputation as a motivational figure, often sharing videos of himself hunting and shooting firearms, as well as doing physical activities that many people assumed he couldn’t do. Because of his prior backstory and having been featured in national media as someone who “overcame the odds,” this story is getting much attention.

What are the Exact Charges Webber is facing?

According to charges that have now been released, Webber is facing multiple serious felonies, including:

First-degree murder, Second-degree murder, First-degree assault, Second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He was initially considered a fugitive from justice after being arrested in Virginia before being extradited to Maryland.

Important Key Information

The motive for the murder is still unclear. Police have not said what the argument was about. It’s not yet known if this was premeditated or spontaneous.

There were eyewitnesses inside the car, as reports say there were other passengers in the vehicle when the shooting happened. If they testify that Dayton Webber pulled the trigger, that’s powerful direct evidence.

Authorities allege the victim, Bradrick Wells, was shot multiple times, as well as shot in the head. Even if it happened during an argument, multiple shots to the head are hard to frame as accidental.

Police say Webber drove away with the body still in the car, and that the body was later found in a yard. This can be used to argue consciousness of guilt and an attempt to avoid responsibility.

Webber was found at a hospital in Virginia and arrested. What we don’t know yet is whether the weapon was recovered. Is there DNA / gunshot residue? Are there text messages or video evidence?

Is there any possibility of self-defense? Is it possible that Bradrick Wells threatened or attacked Webber? Did Webber believe he was in danger?

Who Were the Other People in the Car?

Public reporting so far says there were multiple passengers in the back seat and that they witnessed the incident. They later flagged down the police instead of helping move the body. Those passengers’ names have not been publicly released. But what is not clear is how well they knew Dayton Webber. Whether or not they knew Bradrick Wells. Whether they were friends, acquaintances, or just along for the ride.

Pretty amazing story, huh? This will continue to stay in the headlines as details develop. And we here at SFL.media will be right there with any updates. Consider us your connection to the nugget community.
