James Carville Predicts Trump Administration’s Collapse Within 30 Days
Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville has predicted that the Trump administration will “collapse” within the next 30 days, citing plummeting approval ratings and mounting political challenges.
Carville Sounds the Alarm
In an interview on The Dan Abrams Show, Carville asserted that the administration is already “in the midst of a collapse,” particularly in terms of public opinion. He pointed to recent polling data indicating a decline in President Donald Trump’s approval ratings since his return to the White House.
“This is the lowest approval, not even close, that any president has ever had at a comparable time,” Carville claimed.
While some polls suggest Trump’s approval rating is in decline, others show that over 50 percent of Americans still support him. FiveThirtyEight’s latest average placed Trump’s net approval at +1.5 percent, down from +8.2 percent on January 24.
Policy Moves Fuel Controversy
Since reassuming office, Trump has implemented sweeping executive actions, including aggressive immigration crackdowns, the rollback of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and restrictions on transgender rights. Additionally, he has partnered with billionaire Elon Musk to significantly reduce the federal workforce and cut government spending. Thousands of federal workers have already been laid off, and entire agencies created by Congress face potential closure.
Democrats have criticized Musk’s influence over government policy, arguing that an unelected billionaire should not wield such power. Meanwhile, the administration faces numerous lawsuits challenging its executive actions and attempts to shrink the federal government.
Legislative Battles Ahead
Carville believes that the Trump administration will soon face insurmountable legislative hurdles. He predicts that House Speaker Mike Johnson will be unable to pass a budget or lift the debt ceiling without Democratic support.
“That is going to be the equivalent of stacking arms. It’s over,” Carville stated. “[House Democrats] know exactly what they’re doing, and they know exactly what’s going to happen… Mike Johnson’s going to have no other choice. He’s going to have to go. And when he does, that’s surrender.”
Carville urged Democrats to remain patient and let the administration falter on its own. “Hold your fire. It’s going to be easy pickings here in six weeks,” he said.
Trump Fires Back
Trump responded to Carville’s comments on Truth Social, claiming that he had won the election “in a landslide” and had “the best polling numbers” of his political career. He dismissed Carville as a “broken down loser” and insisted that the country was experiencing a Republican resurgence.
What Comes Next?
While Carville is confident in his prediction, it remains to be seen whether the Trump administration will indeed falter in the coming weeks. With ongoing legal battles, legislative showdowns, and fluctuating public opinion, the next 30 days could prove pivotal for Trump’s second term in office.
