It’s not easy to be a Republican in the age of Donald Trump. In fact, it’s so difficult that many Republicans are left the party entirely as an alternative to working with or supporting Trump.

With that in mind, the results from the post-midterm 2024 GOP primary poll have given us all some serious food for thought. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis beat Trump in the primary, which is big news for Republicans and Democrats alike.

When faced with the choice of Ron DeSantis or Donal Trump for President in 2024, conservatives have their work cut out for them. Likewise, everyone on the Left has plenty of work to do as well. The election of 2024 will be critical to the history of this nation which is why it’s important to make the right choice when the time comes.

Many well-known Republicans have made it clear that they will never support Donald Trump again, including those with concerns related to social justice.

With the possibility of either Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump being elected as President of the United States of America in 2024, it’s important to remember why a Republican President at any point in the near future could be disastrous for the nation at this point in our history.

A Republican President Could Be Bad for Women and Minorities

The Republican Party has a long history of treating women as second-class citizens. For example, many Republicans continue to oppose Planned Parenthood, which provides a number of vital services to women at no cost and is often the only source of medical care available to women in rural areas.

This is particularly worrying given Trump’s nomination of conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who is strongly anti-abortion.

A Republican President could also wreak havoc for minorities in this country. For example, the Republican Party has been pushing for the construction of a wall along the Mexican border for years, and Trump took the idea to new extremes.

A Republican President Could Erase Abortion Rights

In recent years, many Republicans have become more vocal about their anti-abortion views, and conservative legislators are trying to pass laws that would make it more difficult for women to terminate their pregnancies. If Trump or even Ron DeSantis and the conservative legislators who support them succeed in their efforts, there is a very real chance that abortion rights in the United States could be completely erased.

Imagine a world in which being a victim of rape, incest, or both is grounds for not being able to have an abortion. Imagine a world in which a woman can’t get an abortion even if her health is at risk. For people who care about social justice, this is a terrifying thought.

A Republican President Could Be Bad for Education

Education is a fundamental human right that allows people to thrive in whatever field they are interested in. Sadly, the United States has fallen behind many other countries in the field of education in recent years, with the country losing ground compared to the rest of the world, especially in terms of reading and mathematical skills.

While there are a number of factors that have contributed to the poor educational outcomes in the United States, the Republican Party has policy preferences that could make the situation worse.

For example, the Republican Party’s staunch opposition to President Biden’s efforts to create a solution for student loan forgiveness demonstrates just how dangerous the GOP can be for education. The Republican Party is so ideologically hostile to the idea of forgiving student loans that some Republicans are filing lawsuits to derail the student loan forgiveness plan.

A Republican President Could Be Disastrous for the Environment

The Republican Party is often associated with pro-business sentiment and a preference for short-term financial growth, even if it comes at the expense of the environment. With this in mind, it is not surprising to see that Trump has made some concerning policy choices during his time in office.

Given all the information above, it should come as no surprise that a Republican President could be bad for the environment. After all, the Republican Party’s policy is to embrace pro-business sentiment and oppose environmental regulation.

What remains to be seen is whether or not voters will stand up for environmental justice when the 2024 presidential election rolls around. Will voters choose a party that is committed to a clean and long-lasting Earth, or will they elect a Republican president?

During his presidency, Trump tried to strip away regulations that protected the environment. Additionally, Trump has pulled the United States out of the Paris Agreement, which was an attempt by nations around the world to work together to reduce the environmental impact of human beings.

A Republican President Could Be Bad for Healthcare

Healthcare is another important issue that is often neglected by the Republican Party. First, it should be noted that Trump promised to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with something better.

Instead, the new Republican plan would have left millions of Americans without health insurance, which was not an improvement at all. One of the ways in which the new Republican plan would save money is by making health insurance plans less generous. Some have suggested that the Republican Party doesn’t really care about providing affordable healthcare to all Americans.

A Final Word: Don’t Forget to Vote!

As you can see, a Republican President could be disastrous for America. Fortunately, you have the power to prevent this from happening. All you have to do is go out and vote in the 2024 presidential election! Even though it’s over a year down the line, it’s important to start thinking about your vote right now.

This country was built on the idea that we have the power and the right to control our destiny by casting a vote. If you don’t want to see the likes of Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis in the Oval Office in 2024, remember to do your part in shaping this nation’s future and vote!
